A Windmill I did in 1976, I was 12 years old ...
Couldn't afford art lessons so I mowed a acre yard for the art teacher, Ezell Lackey, in trade for a 2 hour art lesson every week.
When she died her son turned her studio into a bar.

Hi Mr. Rankin....I am Ezell Lackey's youngest daughter, Edna Lackey Crawford. That was a very nice comment about my Mother and it does seem that I vaguely remember you taking art lessons from her. I really do miss her; however, I would like to clarify one thing. My little brother, Jim, sold his business in Mansfield, TX in 2006 and moved to Center Point to take care of our mother. She gave the house to my brother shortly after that and she was very much aware that he, some day, would put in a Bar and Grill. In fact, he started his amazing landscaping, built a gazebo, put in fountains, and Mother loved every bit of it. Unfortunately and sadly, she passed away in 2009 and never got to see the fulfillment of their dream. It is a beautiful and unique place and if you have never had the opportunity to visit, I hope that someday you will. You will even see the first sign hanging in the dining area that Mother painted showing mileage to Corpus Christi which is where I lived at the time. Again, thank you for giving credit to my Mom, your artwork is very good and I would like to see all that you have done. Sincerely, Edna Crawford
